1. General information
From the horizon of the present, this subject aims to analyse key concepts of aesthetics in modernity, as well as to understand the inscription of these concepts in the philosophical thought of the time and its continuity with the artistic practice of its moment. On the other hand, it is also intended to enhance the exercise of critical reflection on the experience and the aesthetic phenomena, providing better conceptual tools for the analysis of the aesthetic and artistic nowadays.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda(https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/),in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: Goals 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16.

Knows and understands precisely the theoretical space, the conceptual apparatus and the fundamental issues of modern aesthetics
Understands the links between the main aesthetic theories and the philosophical models in which they are framed.
Understands the relationship of major aesthetic ideas to the cultural and historical context in which they appear.
Describes the evolution of aesthetic thought hand in hand with artistic evolution.
Explains in written and argued form, on the basis of the acquired knowledge, the own ideas on a central theme within modern aesthetics
Appreciates aesthetic phenomena and works of art in an elaborated, reflective and critical manner.
3. Syllabus
1. Aesthetics and modernity: art, criticism, art history and the autonomy of the aesthetic
2. The question of taste and aesthetic judgment
3. Aesthetic experience and artistic creation
4. Criticism, art and modernity
5. Art and society (*)
6. Iconic/pictorial turn and reinterpretation of the history of aesthetics (*)
4. Academic activities
a) Master classes. The teacher will explain the most important concepts and theses of the program. Students should complement the explanations with the readings recommended in the bibliography.
b) Seminar: It will consist of the development of a seminar on the texts and audiovisual material provided by faculty, in which students will participate both through presentations and discussions on the central issues presented.
c) Monographic work, whose elaboration will be discussed with the teacher throughout the subject and will deal with the concepts and central questions of the syllabus.
d) Conferences, courses, film viewings, visits to art and research centres and other activities of artistic and cultural interest - . During the term and as a complement to the previous activities, there will be type 4 training activities in groups.
5. Assessment system
It will consist of the following tests:
1.Exam or written test (60 %)
This test will assess, through the development of broad questions, the acquisition of knowledge contained in the program, as well as the activities carried out in groups proposed by the teacher
Assessment criteria for this test: It will be assessed that students demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fundamental contents of the syllabus ; that they know how to highlight the central ideas, structure their response and relate some concepts with others; that they express themselves with accuracy and adequacy; and that they handle with rigor the language that is proper of the discipline.
2.Individual work (40 %)
Analysis of texts proposed by the teacher that will be provided to the students through Moodle.
Assessment criteria: The knowledge and reflective reading of the proposed texts, the argued structure in the analysis of the same, the clarity and depth in the written exposition, the adequate and in depth handling of the concepts of the subject, and the good presentation and the formal and orthographic correctness will be valued.

Global evaluation test (to be taken on the date set in the academic calendar) identical to the previous one.
